Terms Of Hire

Driver Requirements

Drivers must be 25 or over and have held a Full UK driving licence for at least 5 years.

Driving Licence must have no more than 3 penalty points

Identification

Scan of driver's licence (photo card) & one form of I.D such as Utility bill, bank statement dated within 3 months must be sent to info@mediaselfdrive.com or produced by driver prior to commencement  of hire.

Proof of Endorsements / Penalty Points

Details of any endorsements/penalty points for people who hold a UK driving licence are now kept online and not on the driving licence or paper counterpart. Each driver will need to visit www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence before booking a vehicle to create a licence check code which they must email to us before collecting the vehicle. The code is only valid for 21 days, can only be used once and is case sensitive, so please print or take a picture using a smart phone.

Payment

The full cost of hire will be debited in advance of the hire of the vehicle plus a £500 excess deposit. The deposit will be refunded to the card less any additional charges subject to the vehicle being checked for damage on return or collection.

Additional Charges

Any additional hire charges including extension of hire & excess mileage will be deducted from the £500 deposit secured on The Hirers credit card.

Damage Liability

Hirer is responsible for the first £500 worth of damage caused whilst the vehicle is on hire, a deposit of £500 will be secured on the hirers credit card.

Parking Tickets, Traffic contraventions etc.

The Hirer will be liable for all fines, charges, penalties, costs and expenses (including all charges and penalty charges incurred under a charging scheme) and court costs, including VAT or other taxes payable, incurred by the hirer or any driver, in relation to the vehicle during the rental period except where these costs are as a result of the fault or the negligence of the Company.

Driving Mini Bus 'Lite' Vehicles

If you passed your driving test after 1st January 1997 and do not have a D1 entitlement to drive a minibus, you can still drive the Minibus Lite, if you;
* Over the age of 25 and under the age of 70
* Held your licence for a minimum of 5 years
* Are driving on a voluntary basis
* The maximum weight of the minibus is not more than 4.25 tonnes including specialist equipment for disabled passengers, e.g. a wheelchair ramp
* You are not using the minibus to tow.
